Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
